When my team relocated to the BORN Group studio in Manhattan’s Chelsea in spring of 2018, one of the charming quirks was an ape theme that permeated the premises: the iconic Banksy chimp headphones mural, conference rooms named after Planet of the Apes characters, and as you emerge from the lift, a large stuffed toy gorilla, Esmerelda.
Thus was the kernel of inspiration… what’s that ape’s day like, clocking in as the company’s simian ambassador?

A short looping sequence (please right-click the little playhead and choose the “Loop” option)- illustrating an amusing aside by my friend Brian. We are both fans of The Best Show, hence the “Namaste” reference.

I first posted this short visual commentary in January 2017. It was drawn in response to a xenophobic statement made in December 2016 by German chancellor Angela Merkel, speaking out against the rights of some Muslim people who choose to wear face-covering attire.
I hugely respect Merkel as a paragon of pragmatism and it shocked me to hear these words coming from her lips- perhaps something was lost in translation?
