Asian Cuisine

The original brief was to produce six brush-stroke illustrations with celebratory Chinese themes for a new range of M&S prepared meals. The art director asked for artwork to be in a triangular form, a different colour would be assigned to each pack and she gave me free rein so far as subject matter, composition and colour was concerned. For the final product she used torn-colored paper to mask the illustrations, a nice touch to enhance the whole hand-made vibe.

Initial themes were Chinese new year, lanterns, masks, dragon and lion dancers etc.. as this popular range of meals continued to expand we moved toward traditional Chinese imagery of landscape, pagodas, junks.

Looks good, tastes good: score!
